#IPAN strongly condemns the recent attack, allegedly by a proscribed group, of a Fulani community in Oba, Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The cruel macheting to death of six innocent children must be condemned by all. Such barbaric acts must not be accepted. It’s not in our blood as Ndigbo.
We call on the governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are quickly arrested and punished according to the law.
We also call on all the South East governors to ensure the safety of lives and properties of those resident in Igboland.
Other tribes have the right to live anywhere in Nigeria, including in the South East, just like the Igbos have the right to live and work anywhere in Nigeria.
On the other hand, we are elated that the affected community has decided not to retaliate and rather put their trust in the security authorities to deliver justice to them.
IPAN finds it disturbing that the leadership of Miyetti Allah, South East, is doing nothing tangible to promote unity between their members and the Igbos. Their leader, Gidado Sidikki, often laments that his hands are tied as there are no funds for him to perform his duties.
But when IPAN elected to provide the funds needed to jointly commence projects that would educate and enlighten the Igbos and members of MACBAN, the leadership of Miyetti Allah seemed unserious.
At a point, we wondered whether some people are benefitting from these clashes.
