A socio-cultural organization, Igbos for a Progressive Nigeria, IPAN, has called on the federal government to apply diplomacy in handling the case of the IPOB leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
While calling for an adequate fair hearing, IPAN charged Igbo leaders to promote activities that would champion the course of Ndigbo.
The National President of the group, Mr Lawrence Onuzulike disclosed this in his release made available to newsmen.
Onuzulike observed that Nigeria is faced with various security issues that need the prompt intervention of the federal government, added that Igbo people demand unity and a Progressive Nigeria.
In his words, “IPAN is here to speak the mind of Ndigbo. We won’t keep silent on the issues concerning the welfare of the Igbos.
“Although IPAN disagrees with the approach of Nnamdi Kanu and some demands of IPOB, we call on all elected officials and the government of Nigeria to continue to address the concerns of the Igbo people and to seek peace and unity for our nation.
“While we do not know what transpired and the situation or charges brought against Mazi Kanu, we join the rest of Nigeria in calling for a fair trial.
