A group known as Igbos for a Progressive Nigeria (IPAN) has condemned the killings and destruction of properties by members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the South Eastern part of Nigeria, yesterday.
The group in a statement, strongly condemned the thuggery that followed the ill-advised sit-at-home forced on the helpless Igbo people by IPOB.
“For a group which often prides itself as fighting for freedom, today has unmasked IPOB as a terror group working for the total destruction of Southeast.
“All well-meaning sons and daughters of Ndigbo must be shocked by the heartless and reckless destruction of lives and properties that occurred today in Igbo land.
“Like all Nigerians, we at IPAN wonder why the killers operated brazenly in broad daylight unchallenged.
“Why are the Igbo leaders watching while IPOB entrench Boko Haram’s ideology in Igboland? Violence and killings in the South East by ESN have become the norm. And now, like Boko Haram, the group have zero regards for education. Or how else could one explain the fact that they violently scared Igbo students away from writing NECO?
“Many things clearly don’t seem normal,”stated comrade Lawrence Onuzulike, IPAN’s National President.
